Santa Monica, Westside and South Bay
About JunkIt LA
We're a small Santa Monica crew that hauls junk and debris across the Westside and South Bay. Two trucks, the same people on every job, and one rule: if it still has life, it goes to charity, not the landfill.

How we work
Most junk removal companies send an estimator, then a crew, then a surprise. We skip the first and the last. You text a photo of what's going to (310) 905-5138, Miles replies with one number based on truck space, and that number includes labor, stairs, carrying and disposal. When you say yes, you get a two-hour window.
We don't subcontract. The person who prices your job is on the truck, which is why we can tell you whether the alley behind your Venice duplex will take a short-bed or whether we'll carry from the street.
Insured, and happy to prove it
JunkIt LA carries general liability and commercial auto insurance. Condo buildings, property managers and commercial landlords often need a certificate of insurance before a crew comes in; ask and we'll send it before the job. We're also a minority-owned business, which matters to some of the organizations we work with and is noted in our footer rather than on a billboard.
Where things go
Every load is sorted on site and again at the truck. Usable furniture, appliances and household goods go to Goodwill Southern California or The Salvation Army the same week. Metal goes to a scrap recycler, mattresses into California's mattress recycling program, electronics to a certified e-waste handler, and clean wood and cardboard to recyclers. What's left goes to a licensed transfer station: usually Southern California Disposal on Frank Street in Santa Monica, or Culver City's station on Jefferson Boulevard for jobs on that side.
We're building a public diversion number for the Giving Back page. Until it's measured rather than guessed, we won't publish a percentage.
Why storm season matters to us
We live and work on the Westside. The January 2025 fires took out thousands of homes in Pacific Palisades and Malibu, and NOAA's forecast for this winter is a strong El Niño, which puts the burn scars at elevated risk of debris flows. Private-property debris is the owner's responsibility under county rules, and we've watched neighbors deal with that alone. So storm-debris pickups go to the front of the queue this winter, and the same rule applies to them as to every load: if it still has life, it goes to charity, not the landfill.
The trucks and the crew
Crews are two people by default and three for estate cleanouts and heavy debris. Photos of the trucks and the crew are on the way; the frames on this page are where they'll go.About us, in short
Are you licensed and insured?
We carry general liability and commercial auto insurance and can send a certificate of insurance on request. Junk hauling in Los Angeles doesn't require a contractor's license; we don't do demolition or hazardous waste, which would.
Who will I be texting with?
Miles. He prices every job from your photos and coordinates the crew, and he's the person who answers the chat on this site too.
Do you use subcontractors?
No. Our own crew does every job, which keeps pricing honest and lets us answer access questions before we arrive.
What happens to the things you haul away?
They're sorted on site. If it still has life, it goes to charity, not the landfill: usable items are donated to Goodwill and The Salvation Army. Metal, mattresses, electronics, wood and cardboard go to recyclers, and the rest goes to a licensed transfer station.
Ready when you are

Snap what's going, text it over, and we reply with a clear price, usually within the hour. No visits, no hourly rates, and if the load differs from the photos we re-quote before we lift anything.
