What we pick up most in Redondo Beach
Redondo splits into two kinds of calls. In North Redondo, 90278, the housing is townhome and condo developments, most of them with an HOA and a management company that wants a move-out finished before the next buyer or renter arrives. Those jobs are a couch, a bed frame, a patio set and the contents of a two-car garage, usually with a move-out deadline attached and a property manager in the text thread.
South Redondo and the Hollywood Riviera (90277) are single-family and hillside. The city has sued to block SB 9 duplex rules, so there is little new construction and the work is turnover in homes that already exist: estate cleanouts, garage clear-outs ahead of a sale, and the yard debris that builds up on steep lots where nobody enjoys hauling a hedge trimming up a flight of hillside stairs. Down by the water, King Harbor and Riviera Village add the occasional marine-business or restaurant cleanout, the kind of job that starts with a shop closing and ends with a walk-in cooler and a pile of shelving.
Getting the truck in
North Redondo townhome complexes are built around shared driveways and guest parking, and HOA rules usually decide where a truck can sit and for how long. Tell us the complex name and we will ask for the staging rule when we quote; if the management office needs a certificate of insurance, we send one before the window. A few communities want carry-outs kept off the common walkways, which changes how we load, so mention it up front.
On the Riviera, streets are narrow and many homes sit above the road. We plan around where the truck can park without blocking a neighbor and how far the crew has to carry, and both go into the price. King Harbor businesses load from the harbor parking lots, so for those we pick a window outside the lunch and dinner rush on the Esplanade and Pier side. Aviation Boulevard, Artesia and Torrance Boulevard are easy to reach; it is the last hundred feet that takes planning.
Redondo's bulky pickup vs. hiring us
Athens Services is Redondo's exclusive hauler, and bulky pickup is free to residents on the city's trash program. Third-party sites report a limit of four bulky or e-waste items per week, booked two days before your collection day; the city's own page doesn't state that number, so check it with Athens at (888) 336-6100 or with Public Works at (310) 318-0686 before you plan around it. Athens' multifamily guide also treats TVs, monitors and microwaves as bulky items rather than separate e-waste.
If you have one worn-out recliner and a few days, the Athens pickup is the right call. It stops being enough when the load is more than a handful of items, when it sits in a garage or backyard rather than at the curb, when the deadline is a closing date, or when it is yard debris, remodel material or the contents of an entire unit. We quote the whole job from photos and carry from wherever the items are.
Where Redondo junk ends up
Redondo loads go south and east. The Republic Services and American Waste transfer station at 1449 W Rosecrans Ave in Gardena is the usual first stop, with Waste Resources Recovery at 357 W Compton Blvd in Gardena and the WM Carson station at 321 W Francisco St as alternates depending on the day's route.
Paint, solvents, fuel, pool chemicals and similar household hazardous waste are not something we take. Athens and the city can point you to the right program, and we will leave those items for it and haul everything else.
Seasons in Redondo Beach
Move-outs cluster at the end of the month and peak in summer, when North Redondo leases and sales turn over together. Spring brings garage and yard cleanouts to the Riviera; late summer brings pre-listing clear-outs. Winter is a different job. In its October 8, 2026 update, NOAA put the odds of a strong-to-very-strong El Niño through January to March 2027 above 83%, and its winter outlook leans wet for December through February. We are preparing for that in the usual way: pre-storm yard cleanups on the Riviera slopes and post-storm hauling of branches, fence panels and wet furniture. The county says debris on private property is the owner's job, so a city pickup will not cover it.
A typical Redondo Beach call
Here is a typical North Redondo call, written as a sketch until a real job replaces it. A property manager for a North Redondo townhome community texts four pictures at 9 a.m.: a sectional, a mattress and box spring, a patio set and a stack of boxes in a two-car garage. By 9:30 Miles has quoted half a truck. The crew arrives in the afternoon window, checks in at the office for the guest-parking rule, carries everything down the shared driveway, drops the sectional and patio set at Goodwill, routes the mattress to recycling and sends a photo of the swept garage before leaving.

Redondo Beach questions
Do you offer same-day junk removal in Redondo Beach?
Often, yes. Redondo is roughly a 33-minute drive from our Santa Monica base off-peak, so South Bay windows depend on the day's route. Text photos before noon to (310) 905-5138 and we will tell you what is open today.
What does Athens' free bulky pickup cover in Redondo Beach?
Athens Services is the city's exclusive hauler. Third-party sites report a limit of 4 bulky or e-waste items per week with 2 days' notice, but the city page doesn't confirm that cap, so call Athens at (888) 336-6100. We cover anything beyond the program.
Can you handle HOA move-outs in North Redondo townhome complexes?
Yes. Send the complex name and any staging rules with your photos. We handle certificates of insurance, shared-driveway loading and guest-parking limits, and we can quote several units in one thread.
Can you get a truck up Hollywood Riviera streets?
Yes, with planning. The streets in 90277 are narrow and many homes sit above the road, so we ask where the truck can legally park and how far the carry is. The carry is included in the quote.
Do you take TVs and microwaves in Redondo Beach?
Yes. Athens treats TVs, monitors and microwaves as bulky items, and we haul them too, routing them to a certified e-waste handler rather than a landfill.
Do you clear leftover items from King Harbor and Riviera Village businesses?
Yes. Shop closings, restaurant equipment and office furniture are routine. Harbor businesses usually load from the King Harbor parking lots, so we pick a window away from the busy lunch and dinner hours.
