Mattress Removal Los Angeles

We pick up mattresses, box springs and bed frames from apartments, condos and houses across the Westside and South Bay, usually the same day you text a photo. One clear price from the photo, carried down from any floor, and the mattress goes into California's recycling program instead of a landfill.

What we take

  • Mattresses of every size, including king and split king
  • Box springs and foundations
  • Bed frames, headboards and platform beds
  • Bunk beds and daybeds, taken apart on site
  • Futon mattresses and sofa-bed inserts
  • Crib and toddler mattresses

What we don't

  • Mattresses soaked with chemicals or oil
  • Waterbeds that are still full

Why a mattress is its own job in Los Angeles

A mattress is the one piece of furniture almost nobody can move alone, fit in a car, or leave at the curb without a plan. Most Westside buildings won't let you put one in the alley, the city programs want it scheduled days ahead, and a king mattress on a third-floor landing in Palms or Santa Monica is a two-person job with a bent frame waiting to happen. So we treat it as its own service: text a photo, get a price, and it's gone the same day in most cases.

The other reason is where it ends up. California has a statewide mattress recycling program funded by the fee you paid when you bought the bed. Mattresses that reach a recycler get pulled apart for steel, foam and wood. Mattresses that get dumped in an alley cost the neighborhood a cleanup and can earn the dumper a citation. We route every one we pick up toward the recycling stream.

How a mattress pickup works

Text a photo of the mattress and anything else that's going to (310) 905-5138, with your address and the floor it's on. Miles replies with a price. If you want it gone today, text before noon and we can usually make it. Two people arrive in a two-hour window, bag or wrap the mattress if the building requires it, carry it down, and load it with the box spring and frame. A single mattress pickup takes about fifteen minutes door to door; a whole bedroom set takes closer to forty-five.

You don't need to be there if we can reach it. A gate code, a doorman, or a neighbor with a key is enough, and we text a photo of the cleared spot when we're done.

What we take with the mattress

ItemNotes
Mattresses, any sizeTwin through California king, split kings, memory foam, hybrids, innerspring
Box springs and foundationsIncluding the low-profile and adjustable kind
Bed frames and headboardsWe unbolt metal frames and platform beds on site
Bunk beds and daybedsTaken apart in the room so nothing scrapes the stairwell
Futon and sofa-bed insertsThe mattress part comes with us even if the frame stays
Crib and toddler mattressesSmall enough to ride with any other pickup

If the mattress is one item among many, we price the whole load together. A mattress plus a couch plus a dresser is one number, not three.

Where the mattress goes

Clean, usable mattresses are rare in this business, and most charities won't accept them, so the recycling program is the normal destination. Metal bed frames go to a scrap recycler with the rest of our metal. Wooden headboards and platform beds in good shape are donated with the furniture load when a charity will take them. Mattresses with bedbugs, mold or heavy staining are bagged, kept separate from everything else on the truck, and taken to a licensed transfer station.

If you'd rather handle it yourself, LA City residents can schedule a free curbside bulky-item pickup through 311, and the state program lists drop-off sites that accept mattresses at no charge. We're the call when you need it gone today, there's no curb to put it on, or you're clearing more than one piece.

Stairs, elevators and walk streets

  • Walk-ups: three-story dingbat buildings in Palms, Mar Vista and Sawtelle are the most common mattress call we get. Tell us the floor and we send the right crew.
  • Towers: Marina del Rey, Playa Vista and Wilshire Corridor buildings usually want the mattress wrapped and the elevator reserved. We bring the bags and can send a certificate of insurance to management.
  • Walk streets and alleys: Venice and the Manhattan Beach Sand Section have no vehicle access to the door, so we carry from the nearest legal spot. That's included in the price.
  • Hillside homes: Bel Air, Beverly Crest and Topanga driveways are often too narrow for the truck. We stage at the street.

When the city will take it, and when it won't

If you live in the City of Los Angeles (Venice, Mar Vista, West LA, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, Westchester and the other LA City neighborhoods), LA Sanitation will pick up a mattress at the curb for free when you schedule it through 311 or MyLA311 and put it out on your regular trash day. That's the right call for one mattress when you have a few days and a curb.

It stops working in buildings that don't allow mattresses at the street, on walk streets, when you need it gone today, and in the incorporated cities with capped programs. Santa Monica allows three free bulky pickups a year of up to five items before hourly charges apply, Beverly Hills schedules on request, and the South Bay cities each have their own hauler and limits. A move-out with a mattress, a bed frame and a dresser is usually past what those programs cover in the time you have.

Move-out weeks

Mattress calls spike at the end of every month and twice a year around UCLA, in late June and mid-September, when Westwood, Sawtelle and Palms turn over at once. If your move-out date is fixed, book a week ahead and we'll hold the window. Property managers clearing several units can send photos of each in one text thread and get one price for all of them.

Mattress Removal questions

Do you offer same-day mattress removal in Los Angeles?

Usually, yes. Text a photo before noon and we can typically pick up the same day anywhere on the Westside or in the South Bay. Afternoon texts are usually next morning.

How much does mattress removal cost?

It depends on how much truck space the load takes and where it is, so we price it from your photo rather than a list. A single mattress is a small load; a mattress with a frame, box spring and dresser is priced as one job. If the pile is bigger in person than in the photo, we re-quote before we touch it.

Can you carry a mattress down from a third-floor walk-up?

Yes. Stairs are part of the price, not an extra. Tell us the floor when you text so two people come with straps and a bag.

Does the mattress have to be wrapped?

Many condo and apartment buildings require it, and we bring the bags. For a house or a walk-up it's optional unless the mattress has bedbugs, in which case we bag it on site and keep it separate on the truck.

Will my mattress be recycled?

That's the goal for every mattress we pick up. California's mattress recycling program takes them apart for steel, foam and wood. Mattresses with bedbugs, mold or heavy soiling can't be recycled and go to a licensed transfer station instead.

Do you take box springs and bed frames too?

Yes. Box springs, foundations, metal and wood frames, headboards, bunk beds and platform beds all ride with the mattress. We unbolt and take apart frames on site.

Can I get a free mattress pickup from the city instead?

If you're in the City of Los Angeles, yes: schedule a free bulky-item pickup through 311 and put the mattress at the curb on trash day. Incorporated cities like Santa Monica and Beverly Hills have capped or on-request programs. We're the option when you need it today or can't put it at the curb.

What if the mattress has bedbugs?

Tell us when you text. We bag it before it leaves the room, keep it separate from everything else on the truck, and take it straight to the transfer station. We still pick it up the same day.

Do you remove mattresses from Airbnb and rental turnovers?

Yes. Beach-city rental turnovers in Manhattan Beach, Hermosa and Venice are common for us. Send photos of everything leaving the unit and we'll quote it as one pickup.
