Junk Removal Santa Monica

Santa Monica is home base, so our trucks start here and the earliest same-day windows go to the 90401 through 90405 ZIPs. We haul furniture, apartment turnovers, estate cleanouts and remodel debris from Ocean Park to North of Montana, priced from a photo, including everything the city's three-pickup-a-year program won't take.

What we pick up most in Santa Monica

Nearly three in four Santa Monica households rent, and most of the rent-controlled stock sits in Pico south of the 10 and in the courtyard buildings of Mid-City and Ocean Park. That's where our calls come from: unit turnovers with a couch, a mattress and a kitchen's worth of boxes, usually on the last few days of the month. Downtown and the Wilshire corridor add office and retail cleanouts around Third Street Promenade and Main Street, where a lease ends and the fixtures have to be out before the walk-through.

North of Montana is a different job. Large single-family lots, long-held homes and estate sales mean whole-house clearouts: garages, back houses, decades of furniture, and the yard waste from a hedge that finally came out. Sunset Park sends us garage cleanouts and the remains of ADU builds. We run all of it from the same yard a few minutes away.

Getting the truck in

Santa Monica is an alley city. Ocean Park, Mid-City and much of Pico are served from the alley behind the building, and the city's own pickups go at the spot marked "For City Pick-up" at the alley or front curb. We'll use the alley when it's wide enough for the truck and carry from the street when it isn't; either way the carry is in the quote. Downtown buildings and the towers along Ocean Avenue and Wilshire have loading docks, elevator reservations and a certificate of insurance requirement, and we handle all three ahead of the window. North of Montana driveways fit the truck, but tell us about gates and parked cars so we can stage without blocking the street.

Santa Monica's bulky-item program vs. hiring us

The city's Resource Recovery and Recycling division offers residents three free bulky-item pickups a year, up to five items each, scheduled through 311 at (866) 311-7266. As of July 1, 2026, anything beyond that is charged at $429.55 per hour with a one-hour minimum, the wait is typically seven to ten days, and city crews do not enter private property: items have to be at the curb or the alley on the scheduled day. For a single couch with time to spare, use the free pickup. It's a good program.

The limits show up quickly. A full apartment turnover is more than five items. A garage cleanout isn't at the curb. A landlord with a 48-hour gap between tenants can't wait a week, and construction debris and dirt aren't on the city's list at all. We quote the whole job from photos, come the same day when you text before noon, and carry from wherever the stuff is.

Where Santa Monica junk ends up

Our nearest transfer station is Southern California Disposal and Recycling at 1908 Frank Street, a few minutes from most of the city, which keeps Santa Monica trips short and lets us run two or three pickups before unloading.

One thing we can't take anywhere: household hazardous waste. Santa Monica residents don't have a drop-off at the City Yards on Michigan Avenue; the city provides door-to-door collection through CleanEarth at (877) 443-2371. Paint, solvents, pool chemicals and the like go through that program, and we'll leave them for it.

Seasons in Santa Monica

End of month, every month, is turnover season in a city this heavily rented. Late spring brings garage and yard cleanouts; late summer brings staging for fall listings north of Montana. Winter is storm season. The city proclaimed a local emergency on October 29, 2026 to prepare for storm season, and it runs free Sandbag Saturdays at Clover Park on November 7, 14 and 21 from 9 a.m. to noon. If a storm leaves branches, fence panels or mud-soaked contents on your property, text a photo; private-property debris is the owner's responsibility under county rules, and we prioritize those pickups.

A typical Santa Monica call

A property manager on 17th Street texts photos of a one-bedroom at 8 a.m.: couch, queen mattress and frame, dresser, a dozen boxes, a dead microwave. A half-truck price is back from Miles before 8:30. That's the job we'll put a real photo on here first.

Santa Monica questions

Do you offer same-day junk removal in Santa Monica?

Yes. Our trucks are based here, so Santa Monica gets the earliest same-day windows. Text photos before noon and we can usually come today; afternoon texts are usually next morning.

What does Santa Monica's free bulky-item pickup cover?

Three pickups a year of up to five items each for residents, scheduled through 311. Beyond that the city charges $429.55 per hour with a one-hour minimum as of July 2026, and crews won't enter private property. We cover everything past those limits.

Can you pick up from an alley in Ocean Park or Pico?

Yes. Most of those neighborhoods are alley-served and we use the alley when the truck fits. When it doesn't, we carry from the street, and the carry is already in the quote.

Do you handle apartment turnovers for Santa Monica landlords?

Yes, including several units in one booking. Send photos of each unit in one text thread and we'll quote them together and schedule around your tenant dates.

Where does my junk go after a Santa Monica pickup?

Mattresses, metal and electronics go to recyclers. What is left is a few minutes' drive to Southern California Disposal & Recycling on Frank Street, which is how we can finish two or three pickups before unloading.

Can you take paint or chemicals from my Santa Monica garage?

No. Santa Monica collects household hazardous waste door to door through CleanEarth at (877) 443-2371. We'll set those items aside and haul everything else.

Do you remove storm debris in Santa Monica?

Yes. Branches, fencing, mud-soaked furniture and contents are priority pickups this winter. The city declared a local emergency on October 29, 2026 to prepare for storm season, and private-property debris is the owner's responsibility, which is the gap we fill.
