What we pick up most in Culver City
Culver City is a semi-suburban grid of 15 neighborhoods, and our calls follow the neighborhood. Fox Hills is condos and apartments, so we get move-outs with a sofa, a mattress and a stack of flat-pack leftovers. Blair Hills, Park West and Sunkist Park are mostly single-family, which means garages, back-yard sheds and the slow accumulation of a house lived in for decades. The architecture runs from Mission Revival to 1930s Moderne, and some of the furniture inside matches.
Then there is the work business that gives Culver City its edge. Sony Pictures Studios and the production offices around it generate office furniture, set pieces and storage that need to be gone by a wrap date. Helms Bakery District and Downtown Culver Steps see restaurant and retail fixtures leave when a lease turns over: shelving, counters, stainless prep tables. For that side of the city, see our Culver City commercial junk removal page.
Getting the truck in
Most Culver City single-family homes have a driveway, which is the easy case. Washington, Venice, Culver, Jefferson and Sepulveda Boulevards and Overland Avenue carry the traffic, so we avoid the pickup window around rush hour when we can.
- Fox Hills: condos and apartments with parking-structure and elevator access. Ask the building manager about elevator padding and a freight window, and send us the certificate-of-insurance request if one is required.
- Studio lots: gate check-in is standard. Give us the production contact and the vehicle pass details in advance.
- Beverlywood: next door, 1,354 single-family homes under binding HOA CC&Rs. Piles are not allowed to linger at the curb, so we time the pickup to avoid any dwell time at all.
Culver City's own pickup program vs. hiring us
Culver City runs its own collection, and it is a decent one. Bulky pickup is by appointment only through (310) 253-6400, Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., or a web form. Single-family households get two free pickups a year, multifamily gets one, each up to six items. Set items at the curb by 6 a.m., and no earlier than the day before. The wait for an appointment is about two weeks. Extra pickups are billed under the city's Adopted Refuse Rates.
Furniture, mattresses (which the city landfills), appliances and gas mowers with fluids removed, and bundled pipes, lumber and trimmings up to 4 inches across and 5 feet long are accepted. Dirt, rocks, bricks, concrete, glass panes and commercial waste are not. That list is where we fit in: a remodel with tile and concrete, a restaurant that closed on Friday, a Fox Hills unit that needs to be empty by Tuesday. If one couch can wait two weeks, book the city. If not, text us.
Where Culver City junk ends up
Culver City is the only Westside city with its own transfer station, the Culver City Transfer and Recycling Station at 9255 W Jefferson Boulevard, open six days a week. It is minutes from most of our Culver City jobs. We call (310) 253-5635 for current self-haul hours and fees before we plan a route, because the details are the city's to set.
Before anything is tipped, we sort. Scrap metal, electronics and mattresses are peeled off into their own streams before the scale. Studio and office jobs sometimes involve a large volume of office furniture that is still sellable, and we flag that to you before we haul it.
Seasons in Culver City
Fox Hills sees the usual month-end move-out rush. Production offices turn over when a show wraps, not on any calendar, so those calls arrive with short notice and a hard deadline. Restaurant and retail fixture jobs in the Helms Bakery District follow lease dates. Culver City is not a burn-scar area, but the state's September 21, 2026 emergency proclamation and NOAA's wetter-than-average outlook for December through February are reason enough to clear a low garage early. A wet winter still means soaked cardboard, fallen branches and ruined contents behind the Fox Hills garages. The county says debris on private property is the owner's job, so text a photo if it lands on yours.
A typical Culver City call
A production coordinator calls on a Thursday: a show has wrapped, and a bungalow office near the Sony lot needs desks, filing cabinets and a pile of broken carts gone by Monday. Miles prices it from photos. We confirm the gate check-in, arrive Saturday morning, load from the ground floor and tag the working desks for donation. We will replace this with a real job once we have permission to show one.

Culver City questions
Do you offer same-day junk removal in Culver City?
Often. Culver City is about 18 minutes from our Santa Monica yard, so a text with photos before noon usually gets a same-day window in 90230 or 90232. Studio gates and elevator bookings can push it to the next day.
What does Culver City's free bulky pickup cover?
Single-family homes get 2 free pickups a year and multifamily gets 1, up to 6 items each, by appointment at (310) 253-6400. The wait is about two weeks. Dirt, rocks, bricks, concrete, glass panes and commercial waste are not accepted.
Can you clear out an office or production space near Sony Pictures Studios?
Yes. We handle gate check-in, work to your wrap date and tag usable furniture for donation. Send the studio contact and any vehicle-pass rules with your photos.
Do you service Fox Hills condos and apartments?
Yes. Fox Hills buildings have parking-structure and elevator access, so we ask for the building's freight window and any insurance certificate requirement before the job.
Can you work around Beverlywood HOA curb rules?
Yes. Beverlywood homes are under binding CC&Rs that restrict visible curb piles, so we load from the driveway or garage and do not leave anything on the street. Check with your homeowners association if you are unsure.
Where does my Culver City junk go?
After metal, mattresses and electronics are pulled for recycling, the rest usually goes a few minutes away to the city's own Culver City Transfer and Recycling Station on W Jefferson Boulevard.
What if the city appointment is already booked?
Text us instead. The city's wait is about two weeks, and we can usually come in a day or two. Your free pickup stays available later in the year.
