Furniture Removal Marina del Rey

We remove couches, mattresses and whole apartments of furniture from Marina del Rey towers, planning around your building's loading-dock slot, elevator pads and any insurance paperwork. Text photos to (310) 905-5138 and Miles replies with one price based on truck space. Usable pieces go to Goodwill or The Salvation Army.

Why furniture in Marina del Rey is its own job

Most of Marina del Rey is a stack of apartments and condos on land the county owns and leases out. That one fact shapes every furniture pickup here. A sofa in a house is a driveway problem. A sofa on the ninth floor of a tower on Admiralty Way is a scheduling problem, a building-rules problem and an insurance-paperwork problem, and only then a carrying problem.

Buildings in the Marina usually want three things before furniture moves: a booked slot at the loading dock, protective pads on the elevator, and often a certificate of insurance on file with management. Miss one and the doorman, quite reasonably, stops the couch in the lobby. We carry general liability and commercial auto insurance; if your building asks for a certificate, ask us and tell us what wording management needs. We arrange our arrival around the window you were given.

The second reason this is its own job is the missing safety net. The County says multifamily properties in unincorporated areas can get free bulky and e-waste collection, subject to limits, but we could not find a published residential hauler for Marina del Rey itself. For most residents, property management is the practical contact, and the building's rules decide how much, how often and where the pile goes. When the building's answer is "not this month," a lease ending Friday needs a different answer.

What we pick up most in the Marina

The mix is lighter on dining sets and heavier on things that came in through a freight elevator and are leaving the same way. Marina towers and the large managed apartment communities turn over often, so the list is short and repetitive:

  • Sectionals and sleeper sofas bought for a bigger living room than the next place has.
  • Mattresses and box springs, often a king that will not turn the corner of a service hallway.
  • Bed frames, headboards and nightstands from furnished rentals and short-term turnovers.
  • Balcony and patio sets that outlived a view.
  • Desks and shelving from work-from-home setups the next tenant does not want.
  • Dock and deck furniture: weathered outdoor chairs and storage benches that spent years in salt air.

Boat gear and marine clutter turn up in the same calls. If a pickup includes a dock box of lines and fenders, mention it in your photos and we will quote it with the furniture. Fuel, paint, solvents and batteries are the exception: we do not take hazardous waste, and the county runs household hazardous waste and e-waste events from time to time at the Dock 52 parking lot on Fiji Way.

How we run a Marina tower pickup

The sequence matters more than the muscle. A typical booking goes like this.

  1. Photos and the building details. Text pictures of each piece, the address, the floor and the name of your property manager. Miles replies with a single price from the truck space the pieces will fill, which includes the carry.
  2. The dock and the elevator. You (or we, if you would rather) ask management for a loading-dock slot and an elevator reservation. If the building wants a certificate of insurance, ask us for one. Booking windows are set by each building, so we confirm ours against theirs rather than guess.
  3. Pads and dollies. The crew lays elevator pads, guards door frames and splits sectionals at the connectors. Bed frames are unbolted and sleeper mechanisms locked before anything moves.
  4. One trip down, one truck out.

Parking is tight along Admiralty Way and Via Marina, so a booked dock slot is worth more than an extra person.

Where Marina furniture goes

Mattresses and box springs go to recycling where we can, and we tell you when one is headed for disposal. Metal frames and outdoor furniture go to scrap recycling where a yard will take them.

Pieces too far gone to donate, such as water-damaged or crumbling particleboard, go to a transfer station. For Marina loads the nearest are the Culver City Transfer & Recycling Station at 9255 W Jefferson Blvd, a short drive inland, and Southern California Disposal & Recycling at 1908 Frank St in Santa Monica. If electronics are mixed into the cleanout, the Hyperion S.A.F.E. Center at 7660 W Imperial Hwy (Gate B) takes e-waste and household hazardous waste on weekends, and our e-waste removal service can take the electronics for you.

What the county, the city and your building cover

The rules depend on which side of the line your front door is on, which in this part of the Westside is less obvious than you would hope.

Where you liveWho handles bulky pickupWhat to know
Marina del Rey (ZIP 90292), unincorporated countyNo published residential hauler found; property management is the practical contactCounty says multifamily properties can get free bulky and e-waste collection, subject to limits. Ask your manager what your building's limit is.
Playa Vista (90094)LA Sanitation (LASAN), via 311Free, unlimited curbside bulky pickup on trash day, with at least one business day of notice. HOAs often restrict curb staging.
Westchester (90045)LASAN, via 311Same program, curbside at single-family homes.

If you are in a house in Westchester and have a week to spare, the free city pickup is a fair deal and we will say so. The program stops at the curb, though, and a tower resident has no curb. The county's multifamily option and the building's own service are the first calls for apartments. We are the answer when the limit has been reached, the building says the pile can't sit in the trash room, or the move-out date is closer than the next pickup.

A typical Marina call

This is the kind of job we will feature once we have photos; it is an example, not a customer story. A renter in a Via Marina tower is leaving on the 30th. A sleeper sofa, a queen mattress and box spring, two nightstands and a bookshelf have to go, and the building gives out one elevator slot a day. The renter texts photos and the floor number on the 26th, Miles replies with a price that afternoon, and management confirms a late-morning dock slot. If the front desk wants a certificate of insurance, the renter asks for one the day before. The crew pads the elevator and clears the apartment. The sofa and nightstands go to a donation center and the mattress goes to recycling where we can.

Furniture Removal in Marina del Rey: questions

Do you handle the loading dock and elevator booking for furniture removal in Marina del Rey?

We work around it with you. Marina del Rey buildings usually require a dock slot and elevator pads, and we confirm our arrival against the window your management gives you. You or your manager books the slot; we bring the crew and pads and ask what paperwork the building needs.

Can you provide a certificate of insurance to my Marina del Rey building for a furniture pickup?

Ask us. We carry general liability and commercial auto insurance, and if your building needs a certificate, give us the property manager's email and any wording they require when you book.

Who picks up bulky furniture in Marina del Rey if I don't hire a hauler?

We could not find a published residential hauler for unincorporated Marina del Rey. The County says multifamily properties there can get free bulky and e-waste collection subject to limits, so ask property management first. Playa Vista and Westchester, which are LA City, use free LASAN pickup through 311.

Will you take a mattress and box spring out of a Marina del Rey tower?

Yes. Mattresses and box springs ride the service elevator in the booked window, and they go to recycling where we can. Include them in your photos so the price covers the carry.

How fast can furniture removal in Marina del Rey happen?

Sometimes the same day, depending on our schedule, and the building's calendar is usually the real limit. If management can give a dock window, we will work to fit it. Marina del Rey is about a 15-minute drive from our Santa Monica base.

Do you remove dock furniture and boat gear along with furniture in Marina del Rey?

We take outdoor furniture, dock boxes and general marine clutter along with an indoor pickup. We don't take fuel, paint, solvents or other hazardous waste; the County holds household hazardous waste events periodically at the Dock 52 lot on Fiji Way.

Is it cheaper to use the building's free bulky pickup than to hire furniture removal in Marina del Rey?

For one or two items with time to spare, the building's or county's free option is the better call, and we will tell you so. It is slower and has limits. We are for deadlines, bigger loads and the pieces management won't let sit in a trash room.
