Furniture Removal West Los Angeles
West LA is where Westside furniture piles up fastest: student move-outs in June and September, Wilshire Corridor towers and 90025 houses being gutted. We pick up couches, mattresses and whole rooms, and often can come the same day you text photos to (310) 905-5138.

Why furniture in West LA is its own job
Three different furniture economies share one set of ZIP codes here. Westwood runs on the academic calendar: about 64 percent of households are renters, and student housing near UCLA empties in two big waves, June and September. The Wilshire Corridor and Century City run on building rules, with condo towers that need loading-dock and elevator reservations and often a certificate of insurance. And 90025 runs on remodels: one source reports that teardowns of older homes are more frequent there than anywhere else in the city, an uncited claim we hedge, but the sofa left behind when a house is gutted is a real thing on Olympic and Pico.
Put those together and West LA is among the busiest furniture-pickup zones on the Westside, and the pickup that works in one pocket fails in the next. A student's futon needs a fast carry on a deadline. A tower's armoire needs a booked window and pads. A remodel's dining set needs a crew that shows up when the contractor says the room is clear.
What we pick up most in West LA
The item mix changes block by block, so here is how we see it:
- Westwood and the Village edge: futons, bed frames, mattresses, desks, bookshelves and the shared-apartment sofa nobody will claim. Volume spikes the last two weeks of June and again around September.
- Wilshire Corridor and Century City towers: sectionals, dining sets, armoires and entire rooms of furniture when a condo sells or a unit is liquidated. Century City also sends office furniture when an office is rebuilt for a new tenant.
- Sawtelle, Olympic and Pico apartments: turnover furniture from walk-ups with alley parking, plus restaurant tables, chairs and booths when a Sawtelle Japantown space changes hands.
- 90025 teardowns and remodels: furniture that has to leave before the contractor starts, such as dining sets, patio furniture and the bedroom set nobody is keeping.
- Cheviot Hills and Rancho Park: long-tenured owners clearing 1920s bungalows and ranch houses, often a full set of dining, bedroom and den furniture at once.
How we run West LA pickups
West LA gives us four different access situations, and we plan for each in the quote.
| Where | What we plan for |
|---|---|
| Westwood, student apartments | Tight stairwells, shared hallways, move-out day traffic. We carry, you point. |
| Wilshire Corridor, Century City towers | Dock booking, elevator pads and, if the building asks, a certificate of insurance (ask us); Avenue of the Stars and Constellation Blvd towers have dock scheduling. |
| Sawtelle, Olympic and Pico | Tight alley parking. We stage the truck at the nearest legal spot and run the carry on dollies. |
| Cheviot Hills, Rancho Park, 90025 houses | Driveway-friendly, but remodel sites often mean stepping around a contractor's tools and materials. |
We bring pads, dollies and door-frame guards. Beds get unbolted, sectionals get split at the connectors, and sleeper sofas get the mechanism locked. Leave the gate code or a note about parking with the photos. If your lease ends the 30th, say so up front so Miles can fit you to the deadline. West LA is about a 12-minute drive from our Santa Monica base.
Where West LA furniture goes
That is the usual fate of a student's good desk, a condo's dining set and the decent half of an estate. Mattresses and box springs go to recycling where we can. Metal frames and outdoor sets go to scrap where a yard will take them. What is left, usually water-damaged or collapsing particleboard, goes to a transfer station. The nearest ones from West LA are Southern California Disposal & Recycling at 1908 Frank St in Santa Monica and, for Century City and Cheviot Hills loads, the Culver City Transfer & Recycling Station at 9255 W Jefferson Blvd. If your furniture job includes old electronics, the West LA S.A.F.E. Center at UCLA (550 Charles E. Young Dr W) takes household hazardous waste and e-waste; we don't haul hazardous waste ourselves, but our e-waste service can take the electronics.
What the city program covers, and where it stops
West LA is in the City of Los Angeles, which means LA Sanitation and Environment (LASAN) offers free, unlimited curbside bulky-item pickup to residents. You schedule it through 311 or MyLA311 before you set anything out, request it at least one business day ahead, and it is collected on your regular trash day. LASAN's West LA District Yard also hosts free monthly bulky-item drop-off events on Saturdays in 2026, though we couldn't find the address or dates in the sources we use, so check LASAN for the current schedule.
For one old couch and a flexible week, the city pickup is the right call. It stops at the curb. It doesn't help with a fourth-floor walk-up, a tower with a dock schedule, a unit that has to be empty by Friday, or furniture inside a house that is mid-remodel. A free pickup also puts the sofa on the sidewalk for a day or more, which some HOAs and buildings do not allow. That is where we come in.
A typical West LA call
This is an example, not a customer review, and we will replace it with a real job and photos. A Westwood tenant has until June 28 to hand back the keys. Two roommates are leaving a futon, a desk, two bookshelves, a bed frame and a mattress. They text photos on the 26th with the cross streets and the floor. Miles answers with a price from the truck space and a morning window. The desk, bookshelves and frame go to donation and the mattress goes to recycling where we can.

Furniture Removal in West Los Angeles: questions
Do you offer furniture removal in West Los Angeles during UCLA move-out in June and September?
Yes. Move-out weeks are our busiest in Westwood, so text photos as early as you can and tell us your key-return date. Same-day windows go quickly in the last week of June and around September, and earlier texts get the better slots.
Can you remove furniture from Wilshire Corridor and Century City towers?
Yes. Those towers usually need a loading-dock booking and elevator pads, and many ask for a certificate of insurance. Tell us the building and your reserved window when you text, and ask us about the paperwork.
Is the free LASAN pickup enough for furniture removal in West LA?
Often, yes, for a couch or two with time to spare. LASAN offers free, unlimited curbside bulky pickup for residents through 311, with at least one business day of notice, on your trash day. It doesn't carry from inside, so it doesn't fit deadlines, walk-ups or towers.
Do you take furniture from 90025 teardown and remodel sites in West Los Angeles?
Yes. We take the furniture and household clutter around a remodel, plus debris from the crew once it is already torn out. We don't do demolition, and we don't take hazardous waste such as paint or solvents.
What happens to old furniture picked up in West Los Angeles?
Mattresses go to recycling where we can. Only what can't be reused goes to a transfer station such as Southern California Disposal on Frank Street in Santa Monica.
Do you serve Sawtelle, Westwood and Cheviot Hills for furniture removal in West Los Angeles?
Yes, all of them, plus Century City and Rancho Park. West LA is about a 12-minute drive from our Santa Monica base. Text photos with your cross streets and ZIP (90025, 90024, 90067 or 90064) for a price.
How quickly can you do furniture removal in West Los Angeles?
Text before noon and we can sometimes come the same day. During June and September move-out weeks, windows fill quickly and a later text may land the next morning, so send photos early.
